Organic produce from Nikau Gardens
Our land is starting to produce more fruits and nuts than we can sell locally and we are wanting to make them available to be bought by you online. We are able to send a box of fruit up to 15kg at competitive rates by overnight courier (current price to Christchurch – under $15). We are particularly interested in promoting the concept of filling a box with primarily Avocados and then adding a layer of another fruit that is in season on top. For example, Persimmons would be a great winter fruit that travels and keeps well. We can also send a box of just Persimmons.
Avocados keep for several weeks and you can share a box amongst friends or a food cooperative. We hope to have this option available as soon as the Avocados produce a decent volume. They are quite variable, with a poor crop in 2011 and looking reasonable for 2012. As the trees grow the numbers will multiply faster.
