Vision

Nikau Gardens, in Golden Bay, was established by Chris and Silvia Rowse in 1999. We wanted to be able to grow our own vegetables, fruit and nuts using organic and permaculture principles. WWOOF

Nikau Gardens welcomes WWOOFers (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) who want to experience growing our own fruit and veggies all year round. We have a separate cabin to stay in and regularly have long term wwoofers (who have stayed up to 11 months!) as well as short stays (minimum of 1 week). Read more

Produce

Our land is starting to produce more fruits and nuts than we can sell locally and we are wanting to make them available to be bought by you online. We are able to send a box of fruit up to 15kg at competitive rates by overnight courier (current price to Christchurch - under $15). We are particularly interested in promoting the concept of filling a box with primarily Avocados and then adding a layer of another fruit that is in season on top. Read more

Both Silvia and Chris have had a long involvement in Organic growing and permaculture concepts and relished the opportunity to put it into practice on a larger than garden scale. Read more
